Day two editing.

I inserted a one second 'cross dissolve' between the last shot and this, again to create a similar smooth transition allowing each shot to lead on from one another without any sudden stopping. This shot consists of writing being shown in a notebook - I have taken several different shot's and put them together, therefore this shot doesn't run as smooth as the others, which is good as it's the effect I wanted to create. The colour has been changed again, with 99% 'exposure', -35% 'brightness', -18% 'contrast' and 0% 'saturation' meaning this shot is featured in black and white, similarly to the first shot shown in the woods. Between this shot I have inserted a transition which lasts 0.9 seconds of simply 'fading to black', following on from this is a slow motion shot from over the shoulder showing a young girl brushing her hair in the mirror. I have made this a very short shot, also slowed down by 50%; which I enabled by 'converting the clip' and altering the speed to my preference. A one second 'cross dissolve' appears again between this and the next shot, which returns to the writing in the notebook, with the 0% saturation and colour changes as shown before.

Day one editing.

After importing all of the clips I have recorded over the past week onto the Mac, I was able to begin editing each shot. I began by choosing which clips I want, and what specific order I would like them to appear in. I started with the opening clip which shows the floor in the woods, and around the woods from the victims view point which I slowed down to 50%; making it last 20.1 seconds rather than 10 - also, I felt this may emphasize the duration of the running and how it felt for the victim, as though they were running continuously in fear of what was to come when they eventually turned round (nearer the end of the movie). By doing this I clicked the selected amount of clip I wanted to edit > 'clip adjustments' and clicked 'convert entire clip' before deciding how slow/fast I wanted the speed to be. As well as changing the speed, I also changed the saturation of this clip to 0%, meaning it became black and white - which I prefer as it contrasts with the next shot which I have used as the food colouring/blood which is pouring into the bath as a shocking red colour. As well as changing the saturation I changed the 'exposure' to 100%, the 'brightness' to -25% and 'contrast' to -27%. Between this shot, and the shot which leads in the food colouring/blood being poured into the bath, I inserted a 1 second 'cross dissolve' transition, allowing the clip's to move softly between one another as I have witnessed on professional films. I changed the 'exposure' again on this clip, making it 106%, as well as the 'brightness' being 13% and the 'contrast' being 6%, I made the 'saturation' slightly lighter this time - rather than black and white - as I changed it to 109% making the food colouring/blood appear raw in contrast to the title which I inserted in the last 3 seconds of this shot. The font I chose for this title (which reads 'Oleander Productions') is 'Cracked', I looked throughout all of the fonts available, yet I found this was the most appropriate for the theme. I also inserted a 'double strike out' on this font, and ensured it was written in black with a white border. The text is rather large as it is written on size 72 font, however it fits the shot well and the colour use is a really good contrast to the blood.

Extra filming.

I have uploaded everything I have recorded so far onto iMovie, however I don't feel there is enough shown of Arabella therefore I came up with the last minute idea of having a short clip shown of her from an over the shoulder shot. This features Arabella standing infront of a mirror - you are able to see her from the reflection however not until she turns around and looks at the camera. The effect of both these camera angles juxtaposed is really good as it creates a sense of suspense and hints at the thriller theme slightly more than the rest of the film - which I needed to emphasise.

Day three filming.

Today shall be my final day of filming, as I know exactly what is left for me to record and I have planned it successfully to complete it and upload it as soon as possible to iMovie. The woods is the main setting for the last few shots today which have been; filming the floor - an idea I took from a YouTube video I watched. I recorded this at eye level to allow it to appear as though it's from the victims view point - I also walked quite fast whilst holding the camera for it to appear shaky. Secondly to this, I recorded a swish pan from left to right in the woods, again from eye level for it to appear from the victims view point. I had to film this quite a few times as the light from the sun interfered severely with the camera when I played it back. I also recorded Beth (Cynthia) running away from the camera, and looking back for further idea development and editing. The final shot I recorded today was of Beth (Arabella) sitting on the floor, I recorded this at a mid shot which eventually came a very close up shot of Beth's face as she looked up. I had to record this a lot of times because it was hard to get the right shot which was most effective - as it will be the ending and I need it to make an impact for the viewers.

Day two filming.

Today I filmed in my bedroom again, as well as the bathroom and a play room my friend used to use. In the bathroom I ran the bath and filled it with food colouring (to appear as blood) however whilst pouring the food colouring, I held the camera at a very high angle. When I put this onto iMovie I want the titles to appear in black over the red blood - as a contrast - so I have recorded it relatively slowly and close up to show the bright colour. I struggled to record at the right time that the food colouring was pouring out, therefore this took quite a few takes as it came out the bottle quite quickly. In the playroom I recorded a very quick shot simply of cartoon images that were on the wall from years ago, this was only a few seconds so it was pretty easy to record as it isn't a main shot. Whilst recording with the food colouring I came up with the idea of writing with it, as though something is being written with blood. I used the back of the notice board I used the day before, as it was blank. This was difficult because I am working on my own meaning I didn't have someone there to help me or hold the camera whilst I wrote on the notice board. I held the camera myself at a mid shot from a very high angle shot compared to me kneeling. I wrote the first few words and filmed the last few letters of each word, pausing the camera regularly. Tomorrow I will continue with the last few scenes I need for my movie opening.
